Goulais River, Ont., Sault Ste Marie OPP is investigating a break and enter to a variety store in Goulais River. At about 2:00 a.m. officers responded to an alarm at the store and found the front door smashed.

Sault Ste Marie OPP is investigating a break and enter to a variety store in Goulais River.

At about 2:00 a.m. officers responded to an alarm at the store and found the front door smashed. It appears the culprits got very little merchandise from the store

Sault Ste Marie OPP need the public’s assistance in helping to solve this break and enter and several other break and enters into commercial properties along the Highway 17 corridor.

During the past month, stores and businesses along Highway 17 in Goulais River, Heyden, and Echo Bay have all been victimized by break and enters.

Most of the damage and the stolen property involved in these break in’s fall below the storeowners deductible for their insurance claims. This means that the store and business owners are all stuck with the costs of the repairs and replacing the stolen merchandise.

Sault Ste Marie OPP would like your help in solving these crimes. Damage and thefts from property crimes like these leave the business owners no choice but pass on these losses to the customers. You, the honest hard working
consumer, are directly paying for the actions of these criminals in your neighbourhood.
