A early winter blast of snow and blowing snow caused traffic problems yesterday for motorist north of Sault Ste Marie.

Sault Ste Marie OPP responded to five collisions north of the Sault. Three of them were directly related to winter weather conditions in the area. An isolated snow storm hit the Batchawana and Pancake Bay area causing poor visibility and poor driving conditions.

Minor injuries were reported in only one collision that saw a mini van go off into the ditch and roll over. The driver of that vehicle did not require any medical treatment for his injuries.

Two other vehicles went off into the ditches casing minor damage to the vehicles.

Goulais River, Ont.,

A motorist traveling on Hwy 17 in Goulais River was caught by surprise after a mattress blew off a truck and right into his windshield.

At about 5:00 p.m. yesterday, the motorist was southbound on Hwy 17 following a pick-up
