The police services of Algoma, along with Canada Customs and our community partners, officially launched our 2002/2003 Festive R.I.D.E Campaign yesterday.

We told you we would be increasing our R.I.D.E spot checks and we did. Last night, Sault Ste Marie OPP officers conducted five spot checks in the surrounding area.

Throughout the evening, officers set up checks in Echo Bay, Heyden and in several locations in Goulais River. Several motorist were issued warnings for Highway Traffic Act infractions but there were no drinking and driving infractions noticed by the officers

If you feel there are locations were you live, work or travel that the OPP should be setting up a R.I.D.E. spot check, please call you local OPP detachment and offer us your suggestion.
