TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT TOPS THE LIST OF OPP ACTIVITIES
Heyden, Ont.,

The Sault Ste Marie Traffic and Marine Unit ( old R.I.D.E. unit) were out last night and caught at least two unsuspecting motorists

At about 11:00 p.m. last night, officers stopped a pick-up truck on Hwy 17 in Heyden. The driver of that truck had no insurance on the vehicle and his drivers licence was suspended. He was charged with both offences and his truck was towed. The minimum fine for driving with no insurance is $5,000.00.

About 45 minutes later another officer from the Traffic and Marine Unit stopped another car in the Echo Bay area. A road side screening test was conducted on this driver and his licence was suspended for 12 hours. No other charges were laid.

The official "FESTIVE R.I.D.E" season is scheduled to start late next week. Keep in mind your alternatives to drinking and driving.
