SERIOUS INJURIES SUSTAINED IN ST. JOSEPH ISLAND COLLISION (St.
SERIOUS INJURIES SUSTAINED IN ST. JOSEPH ISLAND COLLISION
(St. Joseph Island, Ontario) Members of the East Algoma OPP Detachment with the assistance of a Reconstructionist and the Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are currently investigating a serious farm tractor collision that occurred on St. Joseph Island.

At approximately 11:00 AM this morning, a farm tractor was pulling a trailer northbound on the A-Line with a load of wood blocks and three passengers. The trailer broke loose from the tractor throwing the three occupants from the trailer. The trailer came to rest on its side in the east ditch. The farm tractor was being used for personal use at the time.

Marlene SPENCE, age 30 of St. Joseph Island sustained critical injuries as a result of the accident. She was transported to St. Joseph Island Hospital by ambulance and then transferred to the Sault Area Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

One-year-old Josh SPENCE and Shawn SPENCE , age 30, suffered minor injuries. Both were treated at St. Joseph Island Hospital and released.

The driver of the farm tractor was not injured in the collision.

One lane of the A-Line remains open. This accident remains under investigation.


COLLISION INVOLVING MOOSE
Garden River, Ont.,

Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. was called to Hwy 17 in Garden River early this morning to investigate a collision between a moose and a car.

At about 1:30 this morning police were called to Hwy 17 in Garden River after a westbound vehicle struck the moose. No on was injured in this collision and the moose could not be located. Damage to the vehicle was light and the driver was able to drive it away.


PINESHORES ROAD BREAK AND ENTER

Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. was called to the 2000 block of Pineshores Road to investigate a break and enter into a home.

Sometime in the past 24 hours culprits kicked the door open and entered the house. So far the owner has been able to determine that liquor and camping equipment have been stolen.
