NUMEROUS CHARGES LAID AFTER WOMAN ASSAULTED

Sault Ste Marie OPP have one man in custody after a woman was continually assaulted and threatened over a short period of time last night.

Police responded to a Searchmont home at about 8:00 p.m. last night and took the man into custody at the house. It was determined that the woman suffered a continual series of assaults and threats over a very short period of time in her home. Two small school aged children were there at the time.

The 29-year-old man now faces four assault charges and three threatening charges. He will appear in Sault Ste. Marie bail court this afternoon.

The woman did receive several noticeable injuries but did not require immediate medical attention. The accused, the children and the victim all share the same name. Sault Ste Marie OPP will not be publishing the name of the accused in this circumstance.
