Batchewana First Nation, Ont., The Batchewana First Nation Police are investigating the three incidents were items were stolen out of parked vehicles.

Sometime during the darkened early morning hours of Wednesday night and Thursday morning four different vehicle in three driveways were entered and item stolen out of the vehicles.

The owners report that credit cards, bankcards, small amounts of money, and other documents were stolen out of their vehicles. The thefts occurred on Gran Street and Batchawana Street on the Batchewana First Nation.

In an unrelated incident, the Batchewana First Nation Police are also investigating damage to an apartment door. The occupant of the apartment advised that someone carved insulting language into her apartment door.

THOSE ANNOYING BEARS ARE AT IT AGAIN

Heyden, Ont., Sault Ste Marie OPP were notified of two bear sightings throughout our detachment area last night.

The first sighting was called in at a home on Hwy 638 north of Echo Bay. The homeowner reported a bear lingering in their yard. This was not the first time that the owner has had the animals near the home.

A second sighting was report on River Road in Shetland Park in Heyden. At about midnight the homeowner called police to report that a bear was just sitting on his front porch. He advised that there was no garbage or other food sources around and the animal was not trying to gain entry to the home.

The caller told police that this was the second night in a row that this has happened to the River Road resident. Apparently the night before the bear was also seen sitting on his porch.

In both cases the animals left on their own accord.

BREAK AND ENTER

Heyden, Ont., OPP in Sault Ste Marie are investigating a break and enter to a camp on Maki Lake in Heyden.

Sometime in the past week thieves entered a seasonal home on Maki Lake and stole electronic equipment and some food items. The homeowner believes that they culprits gained entry through a window.
