POLICE WATCH FOR SPEEDERS
(North Bay, ON)

Officers of the North East Region Ontario Provincial Police are prepared with traffic safety plans for many of the Regional events happening this weekend. Vacationers and local travellers are focused on getting to these many events. Officers will be watching for aggressive drivers and high rates of speed. Offenders will be met with strict enforcement as officers work to make Northern Ontario roadways safer places to travel.

The main enforcement objective is to slow traffic down and officers will take a no nonsense approach to tailgating and other aggressive driving behaviour that tend to force other road users into dangerous situations. A small reduction in speed can make a big difference in a driver’s ability to avoid a collision.

The North East Region Traffic & Marine enforcement plan has officers focusing on highway traffic patrols during the peak travel times and redirecting focus to waterway patrols when boaters take to the water. Automobile drivers and boat operators are encouraged to take responsibility for their personal safety and that of their family. Make sure that passengers wear their seat belts in the car and personal flotation devices (PFD) while on the water. Alcohol and operation of any vessel or vehicle is just unsafe. Please act responsibly and think of others out enjoying their weekend with you.
