STOLEN VAN FOUND IN GOULAIS RIVER

Goulais River, Ont., A report of a vehicle in the ditch early yesterday morning proved to be stolen from southern Ontario.

At about 6:00 a.m. yesterday morning Sault Ste Marie OPP received a report of a 1988 Pontiac Transport on its side, in the ditch, along Hwy 17 about 3 kms south of Pineshores Road in Goulais River. No one was at the scene when police arrived and no calls were received from anyone about the van.

Inquiries made at the register owner’s residence in the Waterloo Region of Ontario indicated that the registered owner of the vehicle was out of the country but an older teenaged member of the family was at the home.

It appears that persons known to the teenager may have unlawfully taken the van. The van was towed from the scene. The Waterloo Regional Police Service will conduct further investigation.
