“I TOLD YA SO, BUT YOU WOULDN’T LISTEN”

Sault Ste Marie, Ont.,

No, that is not the expression of your “significant other” reminding you of yet another mistake that you have done around the domestic front. It is another reminder from the OPP Northeast Region’s Traffic and Marine Unit in Sault Ste Marie not to drink and drive.

Last night the OPP Traffic and Marine Unit, based out of Sault Ste Marie, was out all over the Sault Ste Marie OPP area conducting the Festive R.I.D.E. checks and they had a very productive night.

Throughout the night the unit gave eleven drivers roadside breath tests. One driver was brought back to the OPP detachment for a breathalyser test but passed the test. They also issued 6 (six) twelve hour drivers licence suspension. Three more drivers were issued tickets for offences under The Highway Traffic Act.

Two drivers were lucky enough to escape with warnings under the Highway Traffic Act and one person was charged with having liquor in the vehicle.

We will be looking for you this season so make alternate transportation arrangements before you have the first drink. Don’t drink and drive.
