EARLY MORNING CRASHES SENDS TWO TO HOSPITAL

Sault Ste Marie OPP investigated two injury crashes yesterday morning north of Sault Ste Marie.

Just before 7:00 a.m. yesterday morning a pick up truck was traveling on Hwy 17 just north of the intersection of Hwy 17 and Hwy 556. The driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle. The truck went into the ditch and rolled several times. One person in the truck was taken to Sault Area Hospital by ambulance for minor injuries.

At about 7:45 a.m. yesterday morning a vehicle traveling on Goulais Mission Road in Goulais River lost control and rolled over into the ditch. One person from this crash was also taken to Sault Area Hospital for minor injures.

No charges were laid in either collision. Police believe that weather conditions and ice were one of the factors in the crash.


ANOTHER DRINKING DRIVER TAKEN OFF OUR ROADWAY

Sault Ste Marie, Ont.,

An officer with the Sault Ste Marie Detachment took another drinking driver off our roadways last night.

At about 1:00 a.m. last night the officer was passing through the city when he pulled over a pick up truck near the intersection of Great Northern Road and Third Line. The driver of the pick up truck was given a roadside breath test and he failed that test. He was taken back to the OPP detachment and given an Intoxilyzer test and he failed that test.

As a result of this investigation nineteen (19) year old Tristian ANDERSON of Lakeshore Drive in Sault Ste Marie has been charged with Driving While Over the Legal Limit. An open bottle of liquor was also found in the truck. Mr. Anderson was also given a ticket for having open liquor in his truck.

DRUGS SEIZED AT R.I.D.E. CHECK

Sault Ste Marie, Ont.,

Officers with the OPP Traffic and Marine Unit once again teamed up with the Sault Ste Marie City Police for another R.I.D.E. check.

This morning at about 2:00 a.m. the officers were checking vehicles on St. Georges Avenue in the city. The OPP officer was checking one vehicle when he noticed evidence of drug use.

As a result of this check a small quantity of marihuana was seized. Twenty eight (28) year old Alexander McKenna of North Street in Sault Ste Marie was charged with Possession of a Control Substance.
