WATCH OUT FOR THE REINDEER??? NOPE THEY’RE ELK !!
Laird Twp, Ont.,

It appears that several Elk have been seen on a regular basis either on the highway or crossing the highway in the Laird Hill area. The small group of Elk have been seen in the area of Pumpkin Point Road, Reid’s Road and Neebish Road.

These animals are larger than the deer that are usually seen in that area. The loss of just one Elk from the small herd can cause serious repercussions as far as the ability of the animals to re populate to the numbers that were once seen in the area many years ago.

Take a little extra care while travelling through that area. You may just catch a glimpse of one of the Elk in the fields as opposed to crashing through your windshield.
