Police Investigating Several Mischief Reports

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The OPP is asking the assistance of the public in solving several mischief reports.

During the evening of April 1, 2005 unknown person(s) damage two vehicles by breaking off side mirrors. One vehicle was parked on Mississauga Avenue near a walking trail and the other on Axmith Avenue.

On April 8, 2005 the Adult Education Centre was a victim of a broken window. Unknown culprit(s) threw an unknown object at the window causing both panes to shatter. A couple of days later, police received yet another call from the same location reporting more windows broken. An additional 3 windows were broken sometime during the evening of April 9, 2005.

Police responded to more calls of broken windows on April 11, 2005. Sometime during the evening of April 8, 2005 five windows on the west and south side of Georges Vanier School were broken. Over the same weekend windows were broken at Central Avenue School, the Adult Education Centre and Elliot Lake Secondary School. Police are investigating all reports.

Goulais River Break and Enter

Goulais River, Ont., Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating a break and enter in the Goulais River area.
Sometime over the past 24 hours thieves forced their way into the home on Old Hwy 17 and stole a small about of cash.


Warning for Motorists

Sault Ste Marie, Ont., Sault Ste Marie OPP, along with all other police services and OPP detachments across the province will start our annual Spring Seat Belt Blitz this Saturday 16 April 2005.

Officers will be conducting random spot checks all over the Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment area. Extra special attention will be paid to children and their respective restraints they need while traveling in your car, van or truck. You have been warned and this is your warning. Officers have been told to offer no discretion during this year’s campaign that ends on Sunday April 24 2005.

Make sure everyone is buckled up properly or prepare yourself to pay the fine.
