SPANISH - On Apr. 13, 2017, shortly after 4:30 p.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a threatening incident that came from the Town of Spanish.

Investigation determined that a 14-year-old female had placed a telephone call to a family member. While speaking to the family member, another female grabbed the phone and began threatening to physically harm the 14-year-old female and her family.

As a result, a 30-year-old female from Elliot Lake, Ont. was charged with:
    •    Uttering threats-cause death or bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);
    •    Attempt to obstruct justice, contrary to section 139(1) of the CC; and
    •    Intimidation-justice system-persons or general public, contrary to section 423(1)(a) of the CC.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on June 6, 2017.
