An Etobicoke driver faces a number of charges after a traffic stop on Highway 17 in Algoma Mills, east of the Sault.

OPP report that on Thursday shortly after 10:30 p.m., eastbound police on regular patrol duties watched a westbound vehicle fail to lower its high beams. Upon initiating a traffic stop near Lauzon Village Road, officers formed the opinion that the driver had consumed alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Jesse Herbert, 24, has been charged with operation while impaired (blood alcohol concentration 80 plus), drive motor vehicle with open liquor, novice driver BAC above zero, fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, and fail to have insurance card.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Aug. 6.
