Driver charged in Bruce Mines gas theft investigation

On March 28, 2020 at approximately 7:15 p.m., members from the Sault Ste. Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a theft of gas incident that occurred in Bruce Mines, Ont.

Officers were provided a description of the occupants, vehicle, licence plate and direction of travel.

Sault Ste. Marie officers located the vehicle traveling West on Highway 17, Echo Bay, Ont. and initiated a traffic stop.

As a result of the investigation, Alexis Erminskin, 34 years old from Plummer Additional Township, Ont. was charged with the following:

  • Obstruct peace officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Drive motor vehicle - no license, contrary to section 32(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 9, 2020 located at 426 Queen St., Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
