Driver and passenger charged following traffic stop

On Sept. 4, 2017, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol on Causley Street in the Town of Blind River.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m., police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop. Investigation determined the vehicle was not insured.

As a result of the investigation, the male driver Olatunbosun Ademolu, 25 years of age from Scarborough, Ont., was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with speeding, contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act.

The female passenger and owner of the vehicle, Keisha Callender, 27 years of age from Scarborough, Ont., was charged with owner permit operation of a motor vehicle on a highway - no insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(b) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Nov. 29, 2017.
