SPANISH – On Jan. 11, 2017, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the East Algoma Crime Unit and the Espanola Crime Unit began an investigation of a sexual assault involving a 17-year-old male and a 13-year-old female in the Town of Spanish.
As a result of the investigation a 17-year-old male from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township was arrested on Jan. 14, 2017 and charged with:
- Sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age, contrary to section 151 of the Criminal Code (CC); and
- Sexual assault, contrary to section 271 of the CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Feb. 16, 2017.
