Police probe death of man shot in park in Chateauguay, southwest of Montreal

CHATEAUGUAY, Que. — Quebec provincial police say a man who had been found shot in a park southwest of Montreal has died of his injuries.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was found in a park Saturday morning in Chateauguay, Que., and taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Chateauguay police — a municipal force — were called to De La Commune Park after a witness heard gunshots.

Provincial police spokesman Sgt. Stephane Tremblay said local officers found the badly injured victim.

Tremblay says the case was transferred to the provincial police force.

He says no arrests have been made as yet in the case.
