Man's body pulled from Ottawa River days after he jumped into marina: SIU

CLARENCE-ROCKLAND, Ont. — A dive team has found the body of a man who jumped into the Ottawa River while police were looking for him late last week.

The Special Investigations Unit is probing the incident, which happened on Saturday afternoon.

The agency says the 71-year-old man jumped into a marina in Clarence-Rockland, Ont., after police arrived in the area.

It says the officers were looking for the man because they believed he left a hospital without permission.

The unit says the officers tried to search for the man, but they were unsuccessful.

It says his body was found on Tuesday and he's now been identified as Jean-Guy Meloche.
