It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, June, who passed peacefully in her sleep at the FJ Davey Home on February 17, 2022 at the age of 90.

Beloved wife of the late Mike Zuke. Much-loved mother of Michael Zuke (Vickie), Wendy Pozzebon (Danny), Ron Zuke (Barb), and Sonja Noseworthy (Adam). Adored grandmother of Jessica Zuke, Alicia Mannarino (Victor), Matthew Zuke (Lenora), Paul Zuke (Greta), Ryan Zuke, Taylor Zuke, Amanda Pozzebon (Allan Burke), David Pozzebon (Nikki), Trent Pozzebon, and Hudson Noseworthy. Dear great-grandmother of Elijah, Carter, Ezra, Mila, Everett, and Elisa. Beloved sister of Fred Hewitt (Linda), Sandra Dickson (late Richard), and her predeceased siblings Gerry Trottier (late Phil), Jim Dawson (late Millie), Doreen Gravelle (late Lawrence), Wayne Hewitt (Elaine), David Hewitt, Barbara Tuckett (Blair), Marie Bertolo, and Lorraine Cake. Cherished auntie of many nieces and nephews. Godmother of Nancy Salvalaggio.

Thank you to the FJ Davey Home and staff (especially 3rd Floor, Driftwood) for their help and care, with special thanks to Jessica Reed for her cherished friendship with June.

Special thank you to niece Valerie Zuke who was a helpful and loving companion on car rides, lunches, and medical appointments.

Our mother was kind, caring, and well-liked by everyone she ever met. To know June was to love June! Hockey-wife, hockey-mom, hockey-everything to so many, she, along with our dad, welcomed neighbourhood families to our yard every winter to skate and play hockey on our outdoor rink, and she was the biggest cheerleader of the hockey teams our dad coached. In the summer the outdoor rink became the garden where her and our dad took pride in their flowers, berries, and vegetables.  In 1984 her and our dad were presented with Sault Ste Marie’s Medal of Merit.

In her younger years she played volleyball, softball, and basketball, and as she got older, she was our family’s favourite chef, making perogies, cabbage rolls, cheesecakes, and she rarely showed up to an event without a homemade pie! Our mother seemed to know everyone, and everyone knew her, and she loved to share stories of old Bayview and the Soo. She loved getting together for lunches with her best friends since high school at the Hong Kong Restaurant. She loved her family and friends dearly. She had a great sense of humour with a carefree outlook on life. She will be greatly missed by her family and anyone who knew her.

A cremation will take place, and at our mother’s request there will not be a service. We will hold a small private Celebration of Life for close family and friends. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522).  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations payable by cheque or online made to the F.J. Davey Home  Foundation, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be share at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Zuke family.
