It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that the children announce the peaceful passing of their beautiful mother Nadia (Nina) Zanatta on April 4, 2023 in her 95th year at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH). Wife and best friend of 69 years of the late George. We take comfort in knowing she is reunited with the love of her life. Life was never the same for mom since dad's death. The two were inseparable, and where you saw 1 the other was not too far behind.

Nina was the proud mother of Rick (Theresa), Brian (Ruth), and Laurie Casola (Marty). Devoted Nonna and grandma of Nicholas (Nadia), Kristopher (Tina), Andrea Marie (Josh), Ryan (Katie), Krista (Chris) and her treasured great grandchildren late Hayden, Paisley, Levi, Henry, Thea, Coen, and Chase Mancuso. Eldest daughter of the late Yawdokia and Nicholas Sorokopud and daughter-in-law of the late Angelo and Eda Zanatta. Devoted sister of the late Melo Sorokopud (Mary), late Adolf Sorokopud, late Stan Sorokopud (Jeannette), late Rita Markhoff (late Herbert), Sophie Sachro (late Willie), Jennie Somes (late Wayne), and the late Billy Sorokopud. Special sister-in-law of Dena Bumbacco (late John), and Linda Beaudoin (Leo). Respected aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Mom lived a quiet, contented life. Her main objective and focus were raising her children and ensuring they were happy. Family was her priority and her passion for cooking and baking was very evident in every dish she made. Every occasion Mom made sure we all had our favorite homemade dish. Mom was a kind-hearted and dedicated individual who found great joy in volunteering at the Davey Home for 30 years. She was a lifetime member of the Elettra Marconi Society where she spent many evenings enjoying the company of her friends. Mom had a lot of wonderful friends. Some she leaves behind who will miss her daily phone calls, and some she will finally be reunited with. Mom's warm smile, kind heart and gentle demeanor will always be cherished by those who knew her. She had the unique ability to light up a room when she entered it and sense of camaraderie to those around her. All are heartened to know the pain and suffering endured in the last months are over and she now rests in peace, pain free.

With gratitude and appreciation to Mom's healthcare teams, including Lisa Chandler (our Angel), Allison, Shawn from Bayshore, and April and Tabitha from Care Partners for all your care during the last 3 months. To Dr. Bouchard, Kara and Dr. Buehner, thank you for making our mother comfortable and for the house visits. To all the staff at ARCH, even though our mom's stay was short, your team was passionate and ensured our family had everything we needed.

A private family visitation will be held at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522). A funeral mass for Nina will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM at St. Gregory's Catholic Church (71 Estelle Street). Rev. Trevor Scarfone officiating. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum. Memorial contributions payable by cheque or online to ARCH would be appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Zanatta family.

Rest in peace our beautiful Guardian Angel, until we meet again.
