Peacefully, at the F.J. Davey Home on Monday June 26, 2006; Annie Mabel Young at the age of 94 years. Beloved wife of the late William Young. Loving mother of Tom Young (Kirsten) of St. Joseph Island, Susan Punkari (Carl) of Sault Ste. Marie, John Brauner (Judy) of Belleville, Monica Mitchell of North Bay, Christina Burningham (Paul) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mayla Brauner and Eric Brauner (Linda) all of Sault Ste. Marie. Grandmother of 19 and great grandmother of 9. Daughter of the late Willie and Ellen Hawdon. Sister of the late Margaret Bjornaa (late Andy), the late Reg Hawdon (late Bessie), Rose Gilbertson (late Bernt), Dorothy Campbell (Frank), the late Carl Hawdon (Olive and the late Roseanne), Marion Hyndman (John), Maurren McIntyre (late Scotty), Ed Hawdon (Merle) and Julia McFadden (late Jim). Sister-in-law of Henry Young (Charlotte) of Hamilton. Annie Mabel was a life long resident of St. Joseph Island. Many students, parents and colleagues will remember Annie for her many years as a dedicated teacher and principal for the Algoma District. She will also be fondly remembered for keeping "law and order" at the Dew Drop Inn from 1950 to 1977. Friends may call at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Jocelyn on Friday June 30, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Rosalie Goos and Rev. Hugh Hamilton officiating. Interment at Jocelyn Cemetery. Memorial donations made to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Jocelyn or to the S.A.H. New Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
