WRIGHT, T. Donald

It is with our deepest regrets and sympathy that we announce the passing of Don Wright on Friday, August 10, 2012.  Don was 79 years of age and was the son of the late Arnley and Myrtle Wright.  For 39 years he was the loving husband and best friend of Geraldine Wright (nee Shannon).  He will be greatly missed by his children: Sheree Wright (Ron Sonke), Tom Wright (Lynda), Terry Wright (Jodi), and Daana Wright (Paul Cooper).  One of Don’s greatest pleasures were his grandchildren:  Jessica Oldham (Joey), Stephanie Wright, Tayler Sonke, Conner Sonke and Olivia Cooper.  He is also survived by his sister Arlene Wright, his Aunt Dorothy Carston both of Kirkland Lake, and in-laws:  Janet Shannon (late Ralph), Dianne Bellmore (late Nelson), Gloria Shannon, late Andy Shannon, Peggy McLeod (George) (Brandon, MB), Ian Shannon (Jennifer), Larry Shannon (Janice) (Brandon, MB) and Val Trumble (Bill).  His nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews of the Sault, Red Deer(AB), Medicine Hat(AB), Victoria(BC), Winnipeg(MB), Vernon(BC) will miss their Uncle Don. Don was born and raised in Kirkland Lake.  He was formerly married to Lois Wright.  He worked for the Royal Bank, owned and operated Wright Insurance & Real Estate.  When he sold his business to Castle Insurance, he stayed on for many years to service his clientele.  He was involved with his children’s sports; hockey (trainer for many of the teams that his sons played for) and figure skating.  When he was young he loved hockey and baseball.  In his adult life he continued to enjoy hockey but also curling and golf.  His love for golf never diminished even in the last months of his life. Don touched many lives and will be greatly missed.  He has joined his family and many pets that have passed before him. A special thanks to the nursing staff on 3A who cared for Don in December 2011, the nursing staff on 3 B who cared for Don in July 2012, the nursing staff on 1B who have cared for Don in his last days, Dr. Buehner, Dr. Fratesi, Dr. Grosso (who all had to put up with me and my green binder) and of course our lifelong friend and family Doctor, Dr. David (wife Liz) Fera.  We thank each and every one of you. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 5 pm until time of funeral service in the chapel at 7:00 pm. Mr. George McLeod officiating.
