WITTY, Nancy (Tomas)

Posted

It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our courageous wife, mom and grandma on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at home with her family by her side. Loving, beautiful wife of Gary (for over 40 years); most caring and selfless mom of Jody (Steve), Krista, and Erin (Jason); super awesome, devoted grandma of Alecia (her “girl with the honey-coloured hair”), Avery and step-gram of Joshua, the “apples of her eye”.  Step-mother of Andria (Paul) and step-grandma of Darcie, Julia and Raiden. Daughter of Dorothy Tomas and the late Fern Tomas. Daughter-in-law of Betty Witty and the late Garnet Witty. Sister of Deanna (Bill), Susan (Mike), Debra (Bob), Marlene (Jenny), Steven (Mary) and Charles (Malissa). Sister-in-law of Glen (Connie) and Gordon (DeeDee). Special aunt, niece, cousin and friend of many. Nancy was an extremely generous person and will always have a special place in many hearts. In keeping with her wishes, a private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nancy’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen. A special thank you to all the physicians, nurses, PSWs, volunteers and staff who attended to Nancy both at the SAH and at home. What we do here on earth echoes through eternity. Pay it forward. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre 705-759-2522. Expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.

“You can shed tears that she is gone

or you can smile because she lived.

You can close your eyes

and pray that she’ll come back

or you can open your eyes

and see all she’s left.

Your heart can be empty because

you can’t see her

or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow

and live yesterday

or you can be happy for tomorrow

because of yesterday.

You can remember her and

only that she’s gone

or you can cherish her memory

and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind,

be empty and turn your back,

or you can do what she’d want:

smile, open your eyes, love and go on.”
