July 1, 1921 - November 13, 2012 – Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Sam was the loved husband of Olga Celetti, whom he met while working at Snow White Laundry. Together they have two children Mary Anne Gasparetto (Jerry) and John/aka Jack. After Olga’s passing, he met and married Anna Liisa Paavilainen. He became “Sammi” to Liisa’s children Mirjam Rissanen (Matti), Mark (Jean), Paula Whelan (Jim), Pentti, Bill and Kaisa  Manttari (Andy). He was “Ukki” (Finnish for Grandpa) to 10 grandchildren, Jason (Rachel), Ritva (Jason), Roy, Andy (Crystal), Tasha, Jessica, Anna (Jeff) and Matti (Courtney) and the late Marty and Nicole. Together there are 19 great grandchildren. He loved all of his “babies”. Sam always said that he was very lucky to have 2 wonderful wives and 2 great families. During his younger years, Sam worked at the ACR and became known as “Mekatina Mike”. Later, he worked at Algoma Steel in Transportation driving payloaders and Euclid trucks ending his time there as dispatcher. Sam and Liisa loved to go fishing, camping, picking berries of every kind and they loved their vegetable gardens. Friends and family are invited to gather at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, November 16, 2012 from 1 pm until time of the funeral service in the chapel at 3 pm. Mr. Gene Monin officiating. Cremation to follow. As requested by the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH), SAH Cancer Care Fund or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
