Formerly of the Minnow Lake area in Sudbury, Bernice passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at the Sault Area Hospital on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at the age of 79 years, after a brief illness. Adored wife of Robert ‘Bob’ Wennerstrom and loving mother of Patty Donofrio (Chris), Mary Wennerstrom (Claudio Gambetti) and Sandra Wennerstrom. Grandma Bernice will be missed by Josh (Meghan), Gianni (Ashley), Samantha, Elisabetta (Bryan), Marco and Jason.
Daughter to the late Marion and Cecil McDonald, Bernice will be fondly remembered by her siblings Joyce Kolibash (Joseph), Marlene McDonald, Richard McDonald, and Betty-Ann Paradis (late Earl).
Bernice was daughter-in-law of Norman Wennerstrom (late Vivian); and sister-in-law of Arthur Wennerstrom (Egle), Norma Wennerstrom and Betty Lou Butler (William), and Auntie Bernice to many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Bernice was a gentle and kind-hearted woman who enjoyed gardening, baking, quilting, and spending time with family and friends. After a long career with the Red Cross, Bernice worked at Downing’s Greenhouse where she indulged her passion for flowers and gardening. Over the years, she welcomed many people into her home for holiday dinners and they often became life-long friends.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will take place in 2022. A sincere thank you to the Sault Area Hospital staff in ICU, 3C and 3B for their kind and loving care.
