WEEKS, Judith Kathryn (Pruce)

 It is with heavy hearts and a lifetime’s worth of loving memories that the family of Judy Weeks announces her passing on Thursday, March 8, 2012, peacefully after a long and exceptionally brave battle with illness. Daughter of the late Mike and Ida Pruce of Goulais Bay. Beloved wife of 45 years to Les Weeks.  Loving and devoted mother of Warren (Lisa) of Oakville, Tannis (Shane) McMillan of Sault Ste. Marie, Erin (Matt Yukich) of Sault Ste. Marie and Carly (Dan Cibula) of Toronto. Adoring grandmother of Claire and Ella Weeks and Beatrice and Sidney McMillan. Sister of Bill Pruce (Lori) of Goulais Bay, Linda Pruce (Frank Dwyer) of Sault Ste. Marie, Greg Pruce (Linda Mae Buehler) of Calgary, Janice (Harold) McElwain of Sault Ste. Marie.  Sister-in-law of Dr. Ralph Weeks (Kathy) of Medicine Hat and lifelong best friend to Audrey Joseph of Goulais Bay. Those fortunate enough to know Judy knew a woman of true honour and integrity – someone who always put the welfare of others before her own. She was strong of spirit, kind-hearted, generous and selflessly served as a trusted confidante and advisor to family and friends alike. She was a voracious reader who, by example, instilled a love of books in her children and grandchildren. The dinner table was always the centre of family life and she took tremendous joy from watching her family enjoy a masterfully cooked meal. She had an infectious laugh, a wicked sense of humour and a love of strong coffee, English murder mysteries, collectibles, gardening and animals.  Judy spent her last days surrounded by family and friends, all of whom are better people for having known her. And all of whom will aspire to live up to the excellent example she set for how to live a life with love, loyalty and dignity. The family would like to acknowledge the exemplary care she received from the nurses, doctors and staff at the Sault Area Hospital.  Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Judy’s life will take place in the Chapel on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Hamish Currie officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society or to the charity of the individual’s choice.
