Darrell passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the age of 76. Much loved husband and best friend to Judy (nee MacDonald) for the past 52 years.

Darrell was born on St. Joe’s Island on December 29, 1946, to the late Capt. George and Allison Ward. He is survived by his brother Kenneth (Alice) and sister Marilyn Eddy (late Roy) (late Roland) both of whom he loved unconditionally. Very special brother-in-law to Elaine and Jack Flint. Darrell will also be sadly missed by his fur baby Oscar.

Darrell’s nephews Ward Eddy (Bonnie), Mav MacDonald (Debbie), Alex MacDonald (Holly) and Bruce Selin (Cheryl) were all considered friends as well as family. Long time best friend of Ellwood and Louise Marshall. There is a lifetime of wonderful memories of motorcycle trips, Meenach Lake adventures, cruises, winters in Florida and times spent at the Buckhorn Lodge Deer Camp each fall to reminisce about over the coming months and years.

As per Darrell’s wishes, there will be no formal service or visitation. Cremation has taken place. After a very lengthy, courageous battle with multiple health issues, he was unable to overcome this latest one. Rest in peace my love.

A special thank you goes out the Sault Area Hospital Doctors and Nurses in the ICU for their amazing care and compassion.

Donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (https://www.sahfoundation.com/donate) , ARCH (https://www.archhospice.ca/donate) , SSM Alzheimer Society (https://alzheimer.ca/algoma/en) or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family (Payable online or by cheque).
