Posted

All who knew her were deeply saddened by the death of Katie Walker, a beloved grandmother, mother, wife and sister, on Friday, September 28, 2007. Mrs. Walker, who was 92, was born on Cockburn Island, Ontario in 1915. Her long and rich—but often sad—life was filled with the love of her family and her many friends and admirers, including the workers at Fairvern Nursing Home, Huntsville, Ontario. Her good humour, boundless compassion and strength were inspiring to all those whose lives she touched. Mrs. Walker was the wife of the late Albert Walker and mother of the late Lyall Pateman, the late Edith Osborne (Cal), Georgina Gregory of Huntsville, and the late Suzanne Walker. She was the beloved grandmother of Jane Osborne (George), Cal Osborne Jr. (Pam), Kathy Arbour (Mark), Karen Gregory (Devon), Abbie Lewis, Chuck Lewis (Tracy). Great-grandmother of Mitchell, Eric, Sarah, Brett, Daniel, Katelynn and Laura. Katie is survived by sisters Nelda Oakes (Grant) of Providence Bay and June Strassburger of Kitchener, brothers Douglas MacKay of Sault Ste. Marie and Norman MacKay (Jean) of Kitchener. Resting at the Beggs Funeral Home, Thessalon, Ontario where friends may call on Monday October 1, 2007 from 2pm until time of service at 3 o’clock, The Reverend Dr. John Porter officiating. Interment will be at the Maple Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Alzheimer’s Society (Muskoka) or Friends of Fairvern, Huntsville, would be much appreciated.
