VOMMARO, Francesco - Peacefully, on Monday, February 26, 2024, a little over a month after celebrating his 83rd birthday, our Dad has finally ascended into the arms of his Saviour.

After almost 52 years of marriage, his cherished wife Franca (nee Cino) will truly miss his unconditional love for her.   Proud and loving father of Vince (Tanya) and Dino (Heather), his absence has created a tremendous void in their lives.  Precious Papa/Nonno of Hunter, Jagur, Jaxxon, Max and Lily, he had a distinctive admiration for each of them which filled his heart.  Dear brother of the late Elena Naccarato (Frank), and late Theresa Vommaro (late Giuseppe), late Maria Vommaro (late Luigi) of Brazil and late Raffaele Vommaro (late Lina), late Pietro Vommaro (Lidia) of Italy.  Son-in-law of the late Giuseppe Cino and late Maria Guidocci. Brother-in-law of Angela Grandinetti (late Giuseppe), Gilda Bruni (late Domenico) and the late Nicolina Vozza (late Amadeo), Carmela Greco (late Natale), Pasqualina Veltri (late Giulio), all of Italy.  Frank will be missed and fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Born to the late Vincenzo and Carolina (nee Provenzano) in Cerisano, Italy on January 18, 1941, Frank was very proud of his heritage.  He left home at a young age in pursuit of greater opportunities and ended up in Switzerland for a period of time.  He later received an invitation from his sister Elena to visit her and their mother here in Sault Ste. Marie and from there took advantage of the opportunities afforded to him.  He had a remarkable work ethic which made for an easy hire into Algoma Steel.

Once his sons were born, Frank took on more jobs in order to get ahead and provide as much as he could for his family.  Every year he would treasure the time spent in his fruit and vegetable garden.  Even though it was a ton of work, he committed himself to growing quality food for his family to enjoy.
His determination to be successful in everything that he did, made a lasting impression on both of his boys.  He bestowed upon them a formula for success…never stop learning and always, always work hard at whatever it is you are doing.  That combination has served them both very well and those traits have been passed on to his grandchildren.

Frank was a man of incredible faith becoming an avid parishioner of St. Gregory’s Church for almost 50 years, hardly missing a Sunday mass after his retirement.  He was able to overcome many health obstacles in recent years and his family was very proud of the strength he showed during this time.  He will be remembered for his jovial demeanor, always with a smile on his face and the best boisterous laugh that would fill any size room he was in.

A private visitation will be held at Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. -705-759-2522). Family and friends are invited to attend St. Gregory’s Church (71 Estelle St. Sault Ste. Marie) for a funeral mass on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11 am.  Rev. Trevor Scarfone officiating. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum to follow. Go to www.funeraweb.tv and select Francesco's name to view the service. The service can be viewed anytime up to 90 days.

A heartfelt thank you to all of the nursing and care staff at the F.J. Davey Home and a special thanks to Dave and Vince for always going above and beyond for dad.  Memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) to the Easter Seals Foundation would be appreciated by the family.  Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Vommaro family.
