It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Willem Van Atte (Bill Senior) at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, February 26, 2005, at the age of 90 years. Loving father of William (Bill) and daughter-in-law, Susan and dear grandfather of Jennifer and Karen. Predeceased by sisters Neeltje Dijkshoorn (Piet) and Dirkje Van der Lely (Johannes Arie) and brothers Cornelius (Neel) and Jap. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews in The Netherlands and Niagara Region. Bill Senior came to Canada in 1954, residing in Burlington, Ontario before moving to Sault Ste. Marie in 2002. His early years were spent as a sailor in the Dutch Merchant Marine before working in oil refineries in The Netherlands and in Oakville, Ontario. He shared his love of the natural world and traveling with his son, especially their trips to Africa. We will miss his kind and gentle spirit. At the request of Willem and the family, there will be no funeral service. Memorial contributions to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
