VALLEE, Margaret

Posted

Because we will miss her so, it is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of one of the great ones - Maggie (Rooney) Vallee, in her 91st year. Beloved wife of Levis (Penner) Vallee (deceased) and mother to the whole gang, Nona Mae Dawson (Ronnie), Brian Vallee, Harold Vallee (deceased), Vincent Vallee, Erni-Lynne Vallee, Brenda MacKay, Marguerite Madill, Charlotte Vallee, Nelda Becker and Levis Vallee. Maggie was Nana to 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and sister to Theresa Serpell and the late Charles, Chauncey, Earl and Capitola Rooney and Alma Hicks. Maggie's first born, Nona Mae Dawson, was with her every day to feed and take care of her needs and for this, we will all be forever grateful. Our mother's day to day needs were shared with Nona by her daughter Marguerite Madill before she moved to Toronto two years ago. Knowing that she was being cared for by family members who loved her was so important to the majority of us who were living elsewhere and we are so thankful that three of her children, Nona, Levis and Vincent were with her at the end. Together Maggie and Penner had the ability to make each of their children believe that they were the "favourite one". How do you do that with 10 children? Maggie meant what she said and said what she meant and they don't come finer. Put on the fiddle music and her feet couldn't stop. The Vallee family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the F.J. Davey Home for the care and compassion shown to Maggie while she was with them. Maggie was one of their own, having worked as a night supervisor at the Davey Home for many years. A celebration of Maggie's life will take place Thursday evening. Friends and family are invited to attend at O'Sullivan Donnelly Funeral Home, corner of Cathcart and St. James Streets from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, Cathcart Street, Friday, July 21 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Eric Pannike officiating. Interment will take place in the family plot at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations to the Residents Council of the F.J. Davey Home would be appreciated.
