Unexpectedly at Matthews Memorial Hospital on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the age of 67.

Loving husband of Joyce (nee Littleton). Caring father of Laurie (Jari Kokkinen), Karen (Jonathan Lyons) and Kevin (Nicole Beith). Proud grandpa of Norman and Ida Kokkinen, and Cole Thompson.  Predeceased by his parents Ken and Betty Thompson. Dear brother of Robert Thompson (Sheri). Brother-in-law of Sharon Caple (Charlie), Edna Maguire (Ross), Ruth Stevens (Ed), the late Ken Littleton (Susan), Joan Bishop (Ross) and Roy Littleton (Laurel). Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Doug will be dearly missed by his family and many close friends.

Doug enjoyed people and everywhere he went he took time to talk to someone he knew. He loved the outdoors and looked forward to hunting and fishing with his friends and family. His grandchildren meant the world to him and he was always excited to spend time with them. Doug dedicated 41 years to making maple syrup on St. Joseph Island. He will be remembered for his passion for and contributions to the maple syrup industry.

Friends and family are invited to a come and go celebration of life for Doug on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 1pm to 5pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Richards Landing. Dress casually and in lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Matthews Memorial Hospital Auxillary or the St. Joseph Island Hunters and Anglers would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522).
