It is with broken hearts that we share news of the sudden passing of John Stephens while on vacation in New Brunswick. John was the beloved husband, partner and best friend of Louise and the cherished dad of Matthew. He was predeceased by his parents, the Rev. Edwin and Maartje Stephens and was the youngest brother of Tom (Luella), Judy (Bill Madigan, late Jerry McGinn), Delmer (Lynda) and Jane (Mike Westmorland). John was the dear son-in-law of Fred and the late Marguerite Griffith and much loved brother-in-law of Matt and Kathleen Griffith, and was a fun loving uncle to 14 nieces and nephews, their spouses and their children.

John had an encyclopedic knowledge of aircraft and military history and was a long-time volunteer and webmaster of the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. He was also very involved in the local musical theatre community where his props, programs, posters and especially his clever paper props were legendary. His imagination and creativity were limitless and his wonderful grin was contagious.

John taught us so much about love, strength, determination and courage in the face of adversity. His positive outlook in spite of the daunting physical challenges he faced was an inspiration to many. He will be profoundly missed.  Enormous gratitude to the caring, compassionate doctors and staff at the Moncton City Hospital, and to the Acadian cousins who made the long wait to get home endurable. A funeral service will be held at the Bushplane Museum on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm and a reception will follow. Memorial contributions to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre or the Musical Comedy Guild of Sault Ste. Marie would be deeply appreciated by John’s family.

My John - You will be forever loved and never forgotten.
