ST. DENIS, Cecil Joseph

Posted

Born April 4, 1923, passed into the protective arms of God the Father, peacefully and with dignity, surrounded by his loving family at the F.J. Davey Home on Friday, March 10, 2006. Cecil retired from a forty year career as a stationary engineer of utilities at Algoma Steel. He was a veteran, having served in Europe during the second World War. Cecil was an avid gardener, enjoyed long walks and winters in Florida. During his life he was active in harness racing and was a sports enthusiast. He had a wonderful sense of humour. His greatest pleasure came from spending time with his family, whom he loved unconditionally. He was a devout member of the Catholic church. Loving husband of Angela for 27 years and father of Michelle Glanville (Mort) of London and Denise Ahola (Tenho). Devoted Pop-pop to Gillian Glanville, Cindy Hertz (Mike), Amanda and Samantha Ahola and great grandchildren Christian and Dalton Hertz and Ethan Ahola. Remembered by Angela's sons Marcel, Rodney, Wayne and families of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents Amanda and Samuel St. Denis and brothers Samuel, Arthur, Harry, Alec and sisters Maude Breyette, Loretta Porter, Louise Carol, and Beatrice Matheson. He is survived by his sister Shirley Corbett and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at O'Sullivan Donnelly Funeral Home, corner of Cathcart and St. James Streets, Monday, March 13th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral mass Tuesday, March 14th at Precious Blood Cathedral, Queen St. East at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Bernard Burns officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations to the Alzheimers Society or The Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated. We would like to express our gratitude to his nurses, Jessica, Lisa and Christine at the Davey Home for their tender care.
