Violet Stella Maria Somes passed peacefully with family at her side, at Centennial Place, Millbrook, ON on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late C. Alex Somes (1990). Dear mother of Mary Somes (Gary Bonczak), Joe Somes (Jane), Karen Somes (Wayne Eardley), and the late Dawn McInnis (Wayne). Loving grandmother of Martin (Lisa), Michael (Bonnie), Robert (Tanya) and Wes Eardley. Great grandmother of Evan, Kyle, Duncan, Rhiannon and Mark. Sister of Fay Miller, Willene Page (John), Valentine Reynolds and the late Ernestine O’Donnel and John Dallaire. Vi was born in Gogama, ON and lived most of her life in Sault Ste. Marie and Batchawana Bay, her favourite place to be. She will always be remembered for her wonderful hospitality and incredible baking. We will never forget her amazing butter tarts, pies and squares. Vi loved nothing more than to be surrounded by family and friends cooking up a storm. Always a kind and generous woman, Vi actively looked to help others. A special thank you to all the caring staff at Centennial Place in Millbrook. A private celebration with family and friends will take place at a later date. Private family arrangements with the Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre.
