Peacefully at the Thessalon Hospital with his family by his side on Friday July 23, 2010. Gerald Somers, in his 96th year, husband of the late Mary Somers and the late Pearl Somers. Loving father of Ronald Somers (Jill) of Bradford, Ontario and Leah Carson (Glenn) of Thessalon and stepfather to David Van Buskirk(Ruthann), Larry Van Buskirk (Susan), Doug Van Buskirk (Joanne), Sheila Martineau (Ken), Ken Van Buskirk (Barb)and the late Keith Van Buskirk. Dear son of the late William Somers and Gretta Lefurgy. Dear brother of Helen and Peggy and the late Basil, Claude, Muriel, Nora, Lillian and Clive. Special grandpa to 28 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren and special grandpa to Samantha. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation. Friends may call at the Beggs Funeral Home, Thessalon on Monday August 2, 2010 from 7pm to 9pm. At 8:30pm friends are invited to share memories and stories with the family. A private memorial service will be followed by interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Donations to the Thessalon Hospital Auxiliary gratefully accepted.
