It is with great sadness that we tell you about the passing of Erika Solski on June 23, 2021, in her 90th year at the F.J. Davey Home. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Solski. Dear Mother of Edward Solski (Marcia Brogan) and John Solski (Renata Piraino). Precious and much loved grandmother of the late Michael Solski, Erika Solski (Brian O’Mara), Alexander Solski (Paige Marshall) and Lauren Solski. Loving great grandmother to Owen O’Mara and William Solski. Predeceased by her parents Johanna and Markus Thoma, and by her siblings Albert Thoma (Mary) and her sister Rose Zeleznak (Steve). She will be dearly missed.

Erika was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up in Val-d’Or, Quebec. In 1952, she moved to Sault Ste. Marie. She was an avid cinema lover. Her mastery of math took her to work at the bank at a very young age and she always balanced to the penny. She loved to read, knit, dance, travel, and her retirement years were spent taking care of her grandchildren. You could find her at the Pee Wee Arena cheering on Erika and Alex or at theatre performances supporting Lauren. She was always cheerful and full of gratitude. No one spread more love or kindness in one lifetime.

A heartfelt thank you to all the nurses and staff of 3rd Floor, Cedar Grove at the F.J. Davey Home especially Mike, Colleen, Sandra, and Jennifer. Your quality care, compassion, and humour created a happy environment for her and was greatly appreciated by both her and her family. Many thank to nurse practitioner Lindsay for her kindness and compassion.

Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid restrictions, a family graveside burial will take place at a later date. Memorial Donations to Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or the F. J. Davey Home (payable by cheque or online) would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 215 St. James St, 705-759-8456.

"You are gone but thank you for all the sweet memories you have left behind in our hearts and your love will be our guide.".
