We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Ed Smilanetz at the age of 83 on Friday, February 24, 2006 at his home. Beloved husband and caring partner for 65 years of Stafie. Son of the late George and Rose Smilanetz. Father of Victoria Reiter (Eric) and Ed Smilanetz (Carol). Grandfather of Rachel Schoahs (Tony), Feleisha, Erika, Nathan and Jessica Reiter. Great grandfather of Gabriel and Celeste Schoahs. Brother of Virginia Teeple (Chuck). Brother-in-law of Amelia Zuke (late Peter). Uncle of Peter Zuke (Paula), Jane Rains (Mark), Brian and Kim Teeple. Special friend of Ed Dyni (nephew). Ed was blessed to have made so many life long friends during his 70 years at Smilanetz Grocery in Bay View. He will be fondly remembered, with respect and admiration, for his generous spirit and gregarious nature. Always ready to help someone and very thankful to those who helped him. After his courageous struggle during the final year of his life, I’m sure he is now saying that “Happy Days are here again…I’m going to see loved ones that I haven’t seen for a long time.” Go with God’s speed and our love.
