Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Sault Area Hospital on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the age of 79. Beloved wife of the late Albert Smeader. Mary leaves to mourn son Peter, daughter Michelle, son-in-law Hugh Devon and grandchildren Sarah, Ryan, and Carolyn Devon. Daughter of the late Arnold and Priscilla Potvin. Dear sister of the late Leo (Joan Marie), late James (Heather), late Patrick (Susan), Elaine and Joan Carlos (Steve). Mary will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from the Ottawa Valley and Sault Ste. Marie. Mary was always proud of her roots as a farm girl from the Valley. She spent her adult life in Sault Ste. Marie raising her family and practicing as a Registered Nurse at the General Hospital, Group Health Centre - Surgery and Tendercare Nursing Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 3 pm with Rev. Paul Conway officiating. Memorial contributions (made payable by cheque) to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. The family wishes to thank Doctors, Nurses and all staff at the Sault Area Hospital in particular Jen Coutu and the Staff on 2C for their care, compassion and treating Mary like family.
