It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of George Simmons at the Sault Area Hospital with his family by his side on October 10th, 2023, at the age of 89.

Predeceased by his wife Pauline and son Kevin. Mourning his passing are his daughters Karen Oben (Wayne) and Kimberly Yanni (Dan) along with his 'puppies' Squishy and Patches. Proud and loving Poppa to grandchildren Justyne (Nick), Kathryn (Joe), Jennifer (Matt), Dana (Nick) and Melanie (Andrew). Lovingly engaged with great-grandchildren Leah, Hailey, Joseph, Dax and Lorenzo.

Cherished son of the late Joseph and Ethel Simmons. Beloved brother to his sister Dorothy George (Lloyd), predeceased by his brother Joseph Simmons (Pauline), and sisters Marg O'Sullivan (Denis) and Ethel Smith (Percy). Dad leaves family in the GTA, nieces Joanne Picard, Shirley Oakley, Dianne Edwards, Tom Simmons, Sharon Mee and Dean Lloyd. Many great nieces and nephews.

Veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy, Full career Millwright, Union Local #1425 , Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25, member of Wood Bee Carvers Guild.

Dad was interested in art, music, nature, his ice-cold Export, Maple Leafs games and friends. He mentored many in his busy role as Millwright and will be missed by many friends including Donalda, Steve, Remus and Joe. He was our rock and our hero. To say goodbye to such a man would be impossible so we will say, "until we meet again."

We would like to send a special thank you to the staff at ICU and 3B of the Sault Area Hospital for their care and compassion.  You have our heartfelt thanks and appreciation.

As per Dad's request there will be no service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25. Arrangements entrusted to  O'Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 213 James St. 705-759-8456.

When you're weary

Feeling small.

When tears are in your eyes,

I'll dry them all.

I'm on your side.

Oh, when times get rough,

And friends just can't be found,

Like a bridge over troubled water,

I will lay me down.
