SIKORSKI, Ryszard 1920 – 2004

Passed away peacefully in the caring presence of his family. Born and raised in Poland, served throughout WWII in the Polish Army and emigrated to Canada in 1946, first to Quebec then to Marathon, Ontario (1951) where he worked for and retired from the American Can Company (1985), following which he moved to Sault Ste. Marie (1987). During his lifetime, Ryszard enjoyed skiing, bicycling, traveling, but was never more happy than when working in his garden. Proud member of M. Kopernik Foundation and the Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by his loving wife Alina, daughter Teresa d’Amato (Robert) Mississauga and son Edmund (Maureen) Calgary, grandchildren Sara, Emily, Christopher, and Erin. Also his sister Helena Warsaw, Poland. Ryszard is predeceased by his first wife Zofia, brothers Roman and Stanislaw, sister Marysia. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home and Cremation Centre on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 from 7-9 pm. Funeral service at St. Andrew Bobola Parish (First Ave.) on Wednesday, January 7 at 10 am. Father Jozef Niesyto officiating. Donations to the Extendicare VanDaele or to the charity of your choice will be appreciated. The family extends its particular gratitude to all of the care givers associated with the Extendicare VanDaele.
