With profound sorrow and shattered hearts, we regretfully announce the peaceful passing of Bud Sherlock on Sunday November 8, 2020 surrounded by love and family.
Devoted husband for 42 years of the late Darlene who he missed with unrelenting sadness since her passing in 2002.
Adored father of Marna Churchill (Don), Shawna Piroli (Gian) and Susan Yost (Bryan).
Proudest Papa of Derek Churchill (Brandy), Shannon Churchill, Sophia Piroli (Ron), Shawn Piroli (Jana), Ryan Yost and Aaron Yost.
Great-grandfather of Brenden, Ceana and James.
Beloved brother of Wayne Sherlock (Donna), Sam Rice (Marg) and the late Gerry, Mary, Sonny, Pat, Merlin, Lorne and Doreen.
Best friend and mentor of Donnie Wierzbicki, neighbour and friend for 52 years of Mike Cowan Sr and cherished brother-in-law of Linda Bertrand.
“The Man, The Myth, The Legend”.
He was our rock, our centripetal force, our softest strength. He was who guided us, advised us, corrected us and forgave us. He was pancake breakfast.
He did all he could to help us heal and fill Mom’s role in our lives after she passed away. He learned how to bake pies and cook meals and wrap presents and never faltered at holiday gatherings and turkey dinners. His family would never go without or be in need of anything including a home, his home where many of us returned to live thru the years. His door and his heart were always open. He was infinite.
Bud was a long-standing member of the Ironworkers Union Local 786 and a respected welder at Coopers Crane Rental. He will be affectionately remembered for his colourful use of words, bold character, unnecessary attention to specifics and how he could make us laugh, but most of all for how intensely he loved his family.
Special thank-you to Robin, Ewa and the exceptional nurses of the Intensive Care Unit at SAH. Extended gratitude to Dr Rishi Ghosh, Dr Greg Berg, the emergency department and paramedics for their expedited attention and concern.
Memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Critical Care Fund would be appreciated (payable by cheque or on-line).
A private family service will be held. Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 215 St. James St, 705-759-8456.
