Peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, April 13, 2007 at the Van Daele Nursing Home in her 90th year. Beloved wife of Nick Shami and the late Tony Valade. Much loved mother and friend of Rose-Marie Valade, Nicole (Barry McLarty), Marcel (Fran) and Madeleine (Kevin Jobb). Devoted grandmother of Natalie Rahilly (Warren Pearce), Emelie Rahilly (Peter Mancuso), Anthony Valade (Terra) and Laura McLarty. Much loved sister of Annette Jacobsen (late Peter). Best friend and sister-in-law of Joan Masse. Sister-in-law of Paul Shami (late Monica) and Juliette Small (late Elwood). Predeceased by sisters Marie Lauzon and Aurore Masse and brothers Euclide Masse, Leo Masse, Auguste Masse and her parents Alcide and Marie-Rose Masse. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Irene was a faith-filled, courageous woman who was proud to serve her country in the air force. Irene has been a member of Legion Branch 25 for over 62 years. Madam enjoyed a rewarding teaching career and was mentor to many young teachers. Friends may visit with Irene's family on Monday, April 16, 2007 from 6-9pm at the O'Sullivan Donnelly Funeral Home, corner of Cathcart and St James Streets. Funeral mass from St. Veronica's on Tuesdays, April 17, 2007 at 10am. Father Ron Ambeault officiating. Internment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
