Son-in-law of the late Forturata (late Angelino) Pirillo and brother-in-law of the late Fiorina (late Giuseppe) Provenzano. He will be missed by many extended family and friends.Franco was born in Serra D’Aiello, Cosenza, Italy, on March 25, 1931. During his time in Italy, his musical talents lead him to playing the tuba in a band. In 1950, Franco joined the Italian army where he served until he decided to move his family to Canada in 1957 for a better life.

Franco was a remarkably hardworking man all his life. Passionate for his career in carpentry, Franco made sure everyone closest to him had at least one piece of his handy work. He was also responsible for building many houses here in Sault Ste. Marie.

When he wasn’t woodworking, you could find Franco tending to his garden, which he took tremendous pride in. He enjoyed making salami and wine, which he generously shared with his family and friends.

In his later years, Franco greatly enjoyed spending time with his family. Being a proud family man, he enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow, he also loved sharing his stories and words of wisdom with them all.

Thank you to the March of Dimes Homecare, especially Vicky for the care given to Franco. We would also like to thank all the Doctors, Nurses and PSW’s on 3B at the Sault Area Hospital for all the support shown to our father towards the end of his life.
