Died peacefully in his 78th year at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, March 12, 2011. Beloved Husband of Phyllis. Loving father of Margaret Sagle (Christopher de Gara), Catherine Moore (Andrew), Thomas (Karen Hohmann), Karen Sagle (Avtar Kauldhar), and William. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Lisa-Jane, Shayne, Sabrina, Nicholas, Julianne, Miranda and Kenneth. Beloved son of the late Thomas and Gertrude. Dear brother to the late Leata Parker (late MacKay), Wilda Hunter (late Bruce), the late June Dwyer (late Russel), Orval (late Clara), the late Patricia Stewart (late Peter), David (late Grace), the late Daisy Clouthier (late Edward), the late Lloyd (Lois), Glen (Beth), the late Ann Heany (Fred). Fondly remembered by many nephews and nieces. Gerald attended Queen’s University on an all Ontario scholarship, graduating with a BEng majoring in chemical engineering. He worked as a professional engineer at Algoma Steel, most notably for his many years as divisional superintendent of cokemaking. He was a commissioned officer and did peacetime service in the Canadian Army. Gerald enjoyed many activities in his retirement, including painting, jigsaw puzzles, and brewing beer. Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in the chapel at 11 am with Gene Monin officiating.
