The family announces with sorrow his death, Saturday September 18, 2004 at the Blind River District Health Centre at the age of 72 years. Son of the late Eugene and of the late Delphine (nee Dallaire) Sabourin. Beloved husband of Lina "Linda" Sabourin (nee Rioux) of Blind River. Loving father of Denis Sabourin (friend Dawn) of Elliot Lake and Roxanne St-Louis (Marc) of Toronto. Predeceased by his 2 sons Maurice and Michel predeceased in 1982. Dear brother of Jeannette Simeoni (late Fred) of Sudbury. Predeceased by his brothers Roger (late Florence) and Maurice (Carol Ann of Sudbury). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his 4 grandchildren Renee Johnston (Rob) of Barrie, Daniel Sabourin of Mississauga, Matthew Sabourin of Elliot Lake and Michelle St-Louis of Toronto. In the 50's and 60's Marcel was employed in Sudbury by Ernie's Signs and Bruno Cavallo Signs, as a glass blower. In the mid 60's, he was engaged in the construction of the Big Nickel which involved cutting stainless steel for the lettering. In the 70's he moved to Blind River and became an agent for the Texaco Bulk Plant in Spragge. Marcel then started his own business under the title of Sabourin Tire, expanding it later to Sabourin Auto Centre. His hobby, woodworking, became a passion, ranging from the building of fine furniture to canoes. Marcel was a fine craftsman. His most memorable work was for St-James the Greater Parish, when he built the altar, chair, candle holders and the Baptismal Font. He also loved sailing and Tai Chi. Marcel took great pride in his work and in his family. Friends may gather at St-Eugene Church, 40 Eyre Street, Sudbury, Saturday September 25, 2004 after 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (Sudbury Branch) would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Co-Operative Funeral Home, Sudbury.
