SABATINI, Sister Teresa (Sister M. St. Anthony)

It is with great sadness that The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie announce the sudden death of Sister Teresa Sabatini (Sister M. St. Anthony) on Saturday, February 4, 2006, at St. Joseph's Motherhouse, North Bay. Sister Teresa was born in Thunder Bay (Port Arthur) in 1925 and she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1942. Sister Teresa was an educator who began her teaching career in the elementary panel in Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury and Fort William. Upon completion of her B.A., from the University of Ottawa, she taught at the secondary panel and became principal of St. Joseph's College, North Bay. This was soon followed by principalship at St. Patrick's High School, Fort William and Mount St. Joseph College in Sault Ste. Marie. Following further studies at Lakehead University, Sister Teresa served in the accounting department at Confederation College, Thunder Bay. Because of Sister Teresa's love of teaching, she returned to St. Martin's School, Thunder Bay as Guidance teacher. In 1989, Sister Teresa retired after 41 years in the teaching profession. Invited by the Bishop of Thunder Bay in 1989 to work in the Diocesan Archives, Sister enjoyed five years of service in this ministry. In 1999 she was nominated as Consultor of the Pontifical Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church. Sister Teresa was predeceased by her parents Salvatore (Sam) Sabatini and Emilia Montauti and her brother John. She is survived by her sister Yolanda (Yolly) Myronuk (husband Bill deceased), brothers Frank and wife Dolly, Joseph and wife Rose and sister-in-law Tessi, as well as many nieces and nephews. Sister Teresa will always be remembered and celebrated as a teacher, a choir director, an accountant, an archivist a loyal friend and a woman of great faith. The body of Sister Teresa will be received at 2:00 p.m., at St. Joseph's Motherhouse North Bay on Monday, February 6, 2006 in the Holy Family Chapel, St. Joseph's Motherhouse. A prayer vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2006. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2006 in Sacred Heart Chapel. A wake will be held in Thunder Bay at Sargent's Funeral Home, 2:00 - 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8th, 2006. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated, Thursday, February 9th at 10:30 a.m., at St. Anthony's Church followed by burial at St. Andrew's Cemetery, Thunder Bay. Sister Teresa died as she lived - quietly and peacefully. May she rest in peace.
