ROSSI, Annunziata (Nancy) - December 23, 1924 – December 14, 2022 - Our beloved Nana, Nancy Rossi (nee, Mizzi), passed peacefully with her loving sister-in-law Linda Mizzi by her side at Extendicare Mapleview in her hometown of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Nancy was born to parents Dominic & Concetta (nee, Balducci) Mizzi as the fourth of six remarkable and close-knit siblings. Nancy was predeceased by her loving and only daughter, Lettie Murphy, her son-in-law Joseph, and her husband Peter. Nancy has been called home by God to join her siblings Emily Lippus (Bill), Victor, and Freddie as well as her in-laws Joseph and Letizia Rossi, Gloria Pistor (Louis) and Enzo (Viola) Rossi. Nancy is survived by her sister Margaret Briel (late Albert), brother Mel Mizzi (late Marion), sister-in-law Linda Mizzi and her three grandchildren Nancy Murphy (Tony Pascetta), Jerry Murphy and Maggie Murphy (Andrew Ferlejowski). She will be forever loved and cherished in their hearts. Nancy was the adoring and energetic Great Grandmother (lovingly known as “GG”) to Josephine, Valerie, Freya, Olen, Norah, Thomas and Calvin and will be remembered with a smile by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Nancy grew up in the Sault’s west end and spent years working at the family business, Rossi’s Bakery, making wedding cakes and tuna pizza, among other delicacies.  She later went on to work at People’s Jewelers in the Station Mall where she was recognized as one of their best salespeople multiple times over.  Nancy was a gracious host who loved gathering her family and loved ones around the table – whether at home on Hugill St or at camp at Harmony – where the meals were delicious and the laughter wore on into the night.  Nancy was a dynamo.  She had a mischievous spirit, a grateful nature, and genuine warmth; she made friends in minutes and was our family matriarch who led with love and kindness. She was a style icon, a world-class cook, an artist of considerable talent, and the best nana a person could wish for. Beautiful on the inside and out, Nancy Rossi was an inspiration and the world is left a better place by her presence.

A special thank you to all the healthcare workers and staff at Extendicare Maple View for the excellent care and compassion provided to Nancy over the past six years.

Nancy will be entombed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum.  Service details to be confirmed with the intention for a celebration of life in Spring 2023.  Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Rossi family.
